You can't just lie your way into the truth. It's funny how some customers think that if they lie, they are just going to get what they want. They think of employees as if they weren't smart enough to know better than to trust the word of a customer. These people believe that just because they say something, it will automatically become true. As if they were asking a wish to the air and it was immediately granted by the universe. Well, guess what? Life doesn't work like that. You can't expect something to be real only because you say so. A great example of this is this story , where some customers decided to lie and lie to see if these lies would become true just because they said so. This proves how little they respect the employees that have to put up with them. They don't see them as smart beings who will check information. They see them as gullible people who will believe and do whatever the customers demand them to do. Employees are smart. They were hired because they have the capabilities and skills to handle the job. They weren't hired as a favor from the company to allow them to work somewhere. They won the chance because they were the right fit for the job. Especially with staff hired for customer service jobs, corporate expects them to be particularly skilled in communication and de-escalation. You get hired for a job that consists of talking to people when you have those abilities, when you are able to take the customer's anger and deal with it. They don't hire people who get afraid of a scream or who cry if they get mistreated. The employee who gets the job is the one who can handle all that and also doesn't care enough. The best employee will always be the one who, after a horrible altercation with a customer, can simply forget everything and move on, as a robot would. I worked in customer service for a while; it was hard. I always hated it, as everyone was always so mean. It felt like some customers truly enjoyed making me feel bad. That's why I never let them. To me, it didn't matter if they were screaming, throwing a tantrum, or threatening me. I never cared enough, at least not in front of them. After the screaming they did, I sometimes felt a little bad, but as soon as I clocked out, I would forget everything they said to me. I didn't care enough to remember. That's why I was a good employee, because I never got overwhelmed by an interaction with a customer. That is why I was hired in the first place. That is what managers are looking for when looking for customer service employees. That's why they can put up with almost anything a customer throws at them. It doesn't mean customers get to treat staff horribly, but it does mean they would never be too affected by it.

Some people are never taught to respect personal property. No one likes to feel like we're not being respected by the people around us. We can feel that in a few different situations, but especially when people insist on borrowing items from us without our permission. That's something that can happen a lot within a family. Siblings taking things from one another is not unheard of. My mom has 7 siblings, three of them who are women, and when they were young, they involuntarily shared closets. One of my mom's sisters would take her new pair of white shoes to go gardening in the dirt, use her perfume, and take her phone to talk with her own boyfriend. It was a time when most people had a single phone in the house, so privacy was scarce. My dad had given a personal phone to my mom as a gift when they were dating so they could talk freely, and that's the phone her sister used to take without permission. My mom hated that, of course, but there was little she could do to avoid it. My own brother used to enter my room and take things, and we never even shared clothes! That proves that no matter what era it is, or if they are all girls or all boys, sibling will go ahead and take things from us. Until a certain point, that can be normal. After all, we share a house, a space, and a family with our siblings, so it's natural to feel like there's enough truts between us not to be necessary to ask for every single little thing. We can always set some boundaries with them, and even though it is annoying, it's not nearly as invasive as if someone outside of our family went through our private property. Unfortunately, for this employee, it wasn't an annoying sibling taking stuff without asking; it was a coworker. That is even worse, because it's not like they live together or have built anything remotely similar to familiar trust, and yet, she thought it was a wonderful idea to go ahead and take important items from his office without so much as asking if it was okay.

What happens when forcing employees back to the office makes them stop caring about showing up on time? Working from home or in a office has brought a big amount of discussion during the last couple of years. Some people prefer to work from the comfort of their home, since they feel more productive and even more concentrated, while others much rather like to separate their work life and personal life. There's no right or wrong answer: it really depends on each employee and the company's rules. The problem is when the company decides to implement a full-time back-to-the-office rule and pretends the employees won't care. In the story, an employee worked remotely for four years and confessed that those were the most productive years of his professional life. He had enough time to sleep, work, eat, work out, and even enjoy his life outside of work. Now, he is forced to work in an office five days a week, and "between the commute, the endless chitchat, pointless office events, and sitting in video calls I could have joined from home", he feels like he has lost the joy of life. Because there's no benefit for him in return, he decided to simply stop caring and arrive late every morning to the office. He leaves home at the time he should start working, arrives at the office almost 30 minutes late, and until now, nobody has said a word.

Everybody wishes they could bring their cats to work, even if said cats don't know yet that they belong to you. I always dreamt of bringing my cat to work. Well, not specifically to work, but generally everywhere I go, which includes the workplace. Granted, all my colleagues, bosses, and administration will adore her if they ever meet her in the office - we are I Can Has Cheezburger workers, after all. That should be an automatic testament to how much we love cats, no need to ask us. If my cat came to work with me, she'd be adored and pampered all day long. My colleagues will pet her, my bosses will give her treats between meetings, and the administrative workers will take breaks to watch her nap (because a napping cat is the cutest thing ever). But alas, my cat is too much of a house princess to withstand all of that. She loves the house as her kingdom - because it is. She absolutely hates going out in her cat carrier (although a leashed walk around the block is fine, until something scares her and she needs to run back home). I will never imagine putting her through the torture of a car ride, unless it's something urgent like a vet visit. And don't even get me started on getting her familiarized with a new space like the office, which is full of people and stuff that's constantly happening. She will absolutely freak out. So my cat won't see my office, but this one teeny tiny kitten I saw below went to an improvised "bring your cat to work day" with her rescuer, who rescued her literal hours before she brought her to the workplace. How cool is that? And the kitten was doing so fine, despite her injury (spoiler alert: she's fine). Seeing a cat person so dedicated to a kitten they want to adopt makes my heart flutter with joy, and this one is no different. I love seeing a happy ending, especially if the subject is a stray kitten in need . That's a thing that'll always make me happy, and I'm sure other cat lovers such as you will agree with the sentiment.

Does being a working mom ever get any easier? Any involved parent who also has a job quickly learns that juggling kids and work can be even more challenging than these two areas of life on their own. Simply figuring out the childcare arrangements and how to afford them can be a nightmare on its own, without even taking into consideration the guilt when you feel like you are neglecting one of the other duties because of the way that circumstances change. For many, the only choice they have to make things work is to blur the boundaries between work and parenting, with one recent survey by the Pew Research Center suggesting 54% of working parents find it difficult to balance the two. Part-time and hybrid working options are common, or failing that, many have to make a choice about which thing they are going to prioritize. While kids may be the obvious part of life to focus more attention on, it's not uncommon for parents to feel upset about not giving their job as much as they could. After all, most people can't afford to raise their children without a decent income coming in, and it's also important to have a life outside of your kids. The traditional working model just isn't something that takes into consideration a person who wants to spend a decent amount of time with their children. Although many workplaces have seen some advancement in this area, it is still well behind where it should be.

As you are likely well aware of by this point if you are even just a semi-regular reader of ours, cats can be found literally anywhere. And in that spirit this story's cats decided to hang out in the ceiling above his to-be pawrents' bathroom. An interesting location to have gotten to and one that actually proved to be rather useful considering their ceiling had a vent installed in it, making it rather nice and easy to coax the kitten out to safety. Though you can only imagine what it must have been like going to the bathroom and hearing kitty noises above your head. Though I do have a little bone to pick with these pawrents and that is the fact that the kitten who was literally gifted to them was then sent to spend time in foster care only to then be adopted by them. People, if there is even a 0.1% chance you think you will adopt a cat you find, keep them in your home until you make that decision, please. Now yes I know this is a really small detail to get hung up on, but honestly if this story was about a full grown cat rather than a kitten the end of this tail could have looked quite different. For you see going into the care of a complete stranger, or even worse a shelter, is a harrowing experience for any animal. The change of location, the new smells, sights and sounds, not to mention the vibe of uncertainty left over by other terrified felines who have been there before. These are really tough things for a cat to handle and if they had already been hurt by hoomans before, this kind of experience is going to do nothing for their belief in hoomanity . Often causing them to close up and recede into themselves even more than they had been while hiding. I had one such incident when I was volunteering at a rescue and a cat was brought in after being found under a pile of trash, cowering at every sight and sound. Upon coming into the shelter the already scared feline felt completely backed into a corner and the small space we had to offer him simply did not make him feel comfortable in any way and when we approached his cage we were met with hissing and spitting. This cat was not comfortable at all. So we called his rescuers asking if they would be interested in adopting the cat as he seemed to be a little more comfortable in their presence. They were very much into the idea and quickly came down to give him a furever home . Problem being that he was now stuck in fear, and it is safe to say that if the hoomans who took him home had not been so loving and understanding this cat's already long acclimatization period would have dragged out far longer.

You might think that a tiny Bengal kitten sticking its head in the mouth of a giant Great Dane would be a recipe for disaster, but it actually ended up being one of the cutest playdates I, purrsonally, have ever seen. And believe me, I've seen a lot of cute animal videos on the internet. It's kind of my job. There are some friendships that make purrfect sense the second you see them: a pair of bonded cats sleeping on top of each other or a doggo and their hooman hiking through a forest. Classic. Obvious. But a spotted Bengal kitten deciding that a Great Dane the size of your living room table is actually its own purrsonal jungle gym? That one might need a little more explaining. The pawstively adorable video shows a Bengal baby crawling all over a very sleepy Great Dane with the confidence of someone who has never once been told "no" (I'm sure this kitten has been told "no" many times, but whether it has listened to any of those no's is clearly up for debate). His name is Clay, and he climbs onto the dog, tucks himself under that giant chin, sticks his whole head inside the doggo's mouth and ears and generally treats the enormous canine like a heated mattress with a heartbeat. The wholesome part? The Great Dane just lets him. That's the part that really got me. Great Danes already have this reputation for being giant babies trapped inside horse-sized bodies, but this one takes "gentle giant" to new heartwarming heights. If anything, he looks resigned to the fact that this is his life now. Relatable. He's accepted something all cat owners learn at some point: your life will be easier once you let go of what you want and accept whatever your cat wants. It's clear that this cute kitten does not see the Great Dane as a "giant dog." He sees a friend, a pillow, a jungle gym, and possibly an emeowtional support dinosaur. The doggo, however, seems to be purrfectly content with their role in this relationship, and maybe that's the whole magic. Sometimes, the best relationships are the ones that make absolutely no sense on paper , but feel completely natural once you see them together.

It's easy to feel alone in how many failed situations you've had on dating apps, but at least your Hinge messages aren't so bad that they went viral! That's the distinct pleasure of the people in this article! Every day, I am grateful that I don't have to use dating apps anymore. I deleted my Hinge account before I became official with my beloved. I did it both because I was confident we would become official and because I hated using Hinge so much that I didn't want to see it on my phone anymore. I didn't want notifications. I wanted freedom from the prison I'd created. For some people, dating apps feel like freedom. They can talk to so many more people than they could if they just approached people in public. They can stop talking to someone without consequences; the freedom to ghost is ever-present on dating apps in a way it isn't in real life. If your friend sets you up on a date with their friend, they're probably going to get angry at you if you ghost them. But if you ghost a total stranger on Hinge? That will have little to no negative impact on your day-to-day life, for better or for worse. Although a sliver of the population finds dating apps liberating, most of us who have used them resent them for understandable reasons. They show you an endless stream of fellow singles looking for love, and it makes you feel terrible that you haven't been able to lock one of them down! I don't know about anyone else, but I would feel pretty down on myself after a slew of unsuccessful dates, even if it wasn't my fault. If I wasted a Thursday night spending 2 hours with someone I had no chemistry with, I'd feel sad and resent the app for giving me yet another bad match. Nobody likes getting rejected, even for perfectly valid reasons like lifestyle incompatibility or a lack of attraction. No matter how much the apps hurt me, I would always go back to them until I met the perfect person for me in real life. Sometimes, your perfect person is at the local business that you go to once a week instead of on an endless algorithm of rejection and disappointment. As much as it's easy to hate dating apps , they are a part of our lives, and they aren't going away anytime soon. They make it so that you can go on a date without having to talk to somebody in real life beforehand, and for anxious Gen Zers who can't go up to strangers, it's a lifeline. Sometimes your vacation turns into a rescue mission, and that's okay. These travelers were taken by the cat distribution system during their stay in the California desert. The little 1.2 lb, 8 week old kitten was hiding near their Airbnb. The California desert can be dangerous. You're smack dab in the wilderness and the chances of a coyote or other predator getting to an innocent animal like a kitten is likely. They did the right thing to take her in. They got her with ham lunchmeat and named her Hamantha, Ham for short. They live in the Pacific Northwest and took her with them. They already have an 11 year old cat, Rigby, and they said that they expect their relationship to be like that of the kid and the old man from Up , which is just adorable imagery. This is not only a story of a couple saving a kitten , but it reminds us of how things could change for us so quickly. One minute you're enjoying yourself on vacation, and the next you're protecting a new kitten from a predator.

Sometimes, you have to lose everything to find what you are truly looking for. You know, as much as we love the Cat Distribution System, sometimes there are issues with the delivery system. We would like to formally file a complaint with management. And since we don't know where to send it to, we are just going to put it into the ether. They say the CDS always listens , right? My cat's adoption story was simple. She followed me home on a cold evening, refusing to leave, pitter-pattering her little paws behind me, until I caved. For my husband, it was even simpler. His cat walked straight into his apartment. He didn't need to go out, didn't need to do anything. He left the door open, gave her the option to leave, and she did. For 2 minutes. And then, she walked into the apartment again and stayed. We think these are the deliveries that people are used to. When the system works well, it's flawless. The cat is always delivered to the right person. It's always a happy ending. This is how it should be. No action. No drama. But like we said, sometimes the delivery system is a little wonky. There is no reason for a kitten to spawn in the middle of a busy highway as cars are zooming past it. It doesn't matter if this kitten's human is in one of these cars and will stop to save her. Too much risk involved. There is no reason for a kitten to fall through a window into her adopter's lap. Too much drama. What if the landing was a tiny bit off? And in today's story. A hurricane. And in the middle of all the mess and debris, a tiny kitten is sitting there, not understanding why life dealt her the cards that it did. And we don't get it either. Everything she knew was gone, including one of her eyes, but she found her forever home, and we suppose that is what really matters. All we're saying is that the delivery could have been a little less chaotic.

What was the worst feud you ever had with a neighbor, and what did you do to solve it? I have moved quite a lot in the 28 years I have been around, so I've had my fair share of neighbors, both good and bad. Obviously, every time I move, I have hopes that the people I'm going to see every day in my new home will be better than those I'm leaving behind, but so far, that has never been the case. No matter where I go, annoying or inconsiderate neighbors follow. The only thing that changes is my attitude and methods I thankfully learned so I could deal with it as easily as possible. The worst neighborly dispute I had to deal with was when the neighbors who lived in an apartment below mine accused me of causing a leak in their pipes. According to them, every time I went into the bathroom or showered, their ceiling would leak, so every day they had to put buckets around their apartment and deal with water coming out of their walls. Admittedly, it was an old building, and it was very possible they were correct, but there was nothing I could do about it other than allow them to bring a professional to inspect the issue. However, that was not enough for them, and they demanded I stop using the bathroom and shower until the problem was fixed, which, as I'm sure you can understand, was not something I was willing to do. It was when they decided to shut off the water to my apartment from the outside every time they saw water coming out of their ceiling that I knew I couldn't let them get away with their entitled behavior. I will gladly tell you how I managed to solve this issue, but first you should scroll down to read the story of this poor resident and the fine they got from the city for something their neighbor is to blame for. It all started when their neighbor failed to ask for permission to get electrical work done on the resident's property, which led the electricity company to get in trouble with the city. The neighbor thought they could get away with the violations by pinning it on the resident who actually owns the property, but they were sorely mistaken.

The Cat Distribution System has been working overtime lately, and we love seeing all the unexpected ways kitties find their forever homes. Some show up in parking lots, others wander into backyards, and a few are bold enough to pick out their new home all by themselves. One hooman recently found a smol black kitten sitting on their porch just as it was getting dark. They brought him inside for the night and went looking for his owner the next morning, eventually discovering that he belonged to a neighbor. The little void was the last of five kittens who hadn't been adopted, so the hooman returned him. But just a few hours later, he was back on their porch! This time, the neighbor gave permission for the hooman to keep him, and the little guy has been settling into his new home ever since. Now, we have a few questions for the Cat Distribution System. First of all, how does it decide which hoomans are getting kittens? Is there a waiting list somewhere? Because plenty of us would be more than happy to open our front doors and find an adorable little furball waiting to move in. We'd even have the food bowls ready. And can we talk about how confident this kitten was? Most of our house cats can't make up their minds about whether they want to be inside or outside a room. They'll meow at a closed door until we open it, stare into the room for a minute, and then walk away. Meanwhile, this void managed to pick out an entirely new home and return to it after being taken back to his old one. That's some serious determination for such a little kitty. We're also a little offended on behalf of black cats everywhere. How was this sweet baby the only one of his siblings who didn't get adopted? Have people seen how adorable voids are? Their little faces practically disappear when they're curled up in a dark blanket, leaving nothing but two enormous eyes staring back at you. And when they stretch out in a patch of sunlight, you can finally appreciate just how beautiful their coats are. Of course, this new pawrent is about to discover all the joys of raising a kitten. The midnight zoomies, the tiny claws climbing up their legs, and the constant supervision required whenever a cardboard box enters the house. That little porch visitor will soon be running the household, demanding breakfast at unreasonable hours and claiming every comfortable surface as his personal property.

Sometimes you need a good old fashioned fail in your life in order to put things in perspective. These images are here to provide. Failure can make us all feel a little better about ourselves. There's nothing wrong with a little bit of schadenfreude every now and again. What is schadenfreude, you ask? It's a funny little German word that explains that feeling of joy you get when you see someone else suffer. Psychologist Cristian Cecconi was even quoted in Science News saying schadenfreude can "help us understand ourselves and our relationships with others." There is science behind why we sometimes feel a little good when folks around us feel a little bad. It's a part of human nature , and we shouldn't judge ourselves too hard for feeling it. It's good to indulge every now and again, just to make sure that we're still human. That's what we're here to do today with these design fails.

Living with cats means accepting that your home will never be completely peaceful again. You can clean every room, put everything back where it belongs, and finally sit down to relax, only to hear a suspicious crash coming from the kitchen. Somehow, the cat is always sitting nearby looking completely innocent. Cats have an impressive ability to turn ordinary household activities into complete disasters. Making the bed becomes a wrestling match with a kitty hiding under the sheets. Folding laundry takes twice as long because someone keeps attacking the sleeves. Even unpacking groceries can turn into an adventure when a curious feline decides to investigate every single bag before you get the chance. Some cats are particularly fond of testing gravity. They'll sit on a table, slowly extend one paw, and push an object toward the edge while maintaining direct eye contact with their horrified human. You can tell them to stop as many times as you like, but that glass is going over the edge eventually. The look they give you afterward makes it seem like you're the unreasonable one for leaving it there. Other kitties prefer causing trouble when nobody's watching. You might discover a trail of toilet paper stretching from the bathroom to the living room, or find that your favorite houseplant has mysteriously lost half its leaves. Sometimes the evidence is impossible to ignore, especially when the suspect is sitting in the middle of the mess with dirt all over their paws. The chaos doesn't necessarily stop when the lights go out. A cat who spent the entire afternoon sleeping can suddenly develop an incredible amount of energy at three in the morning. Furniture becomes an obstacle course, hallways turn into racetracks, and every loose object is apparently worth chasing across the floor. Meanwhile, the human who has to wake up for work in a few hours is lying in bed wondering how such a small animal can make so much noise. Having multiple cats can make the situation even more entertaining. One kitty starts a game of chase, the other retaliates, and suddenly you've got two furry tornadoes racing through the house. They'll eventually collapse into a peaceful pile of fluff, leaving their human to deal with whatever got knocked over during the excitement. For all the trouble they cause, these mischievous little creatures certainly keep life interesting. A perfectly tidy home might be nice, but it probably wouldn't come with nearly as many funny stories.

Imagine going outside to your backyard and finding a bunch of fluffy kittens beneath your tree. This woman was the lucky one! I also want a tree that produces kittens. When I lived with my mom and my brother, we had quite a few cats . One was a Siamese I named Odette after the Swan Princess. Doesn't it feel wonderfully elegant for a cat? Siameses are so elegant. My Siamese's name had to do her justice. She had the bluest eyes you've ever seen and little brown "boots" on her legs. She walked around my yard like she knew her name was Odette and really committed to it. Odette had kittens once, and their coats came in all sorts of colors. My grandmother adopted a white kitten and named her Dove. I named a kitten with lots of little spots Rain, and a dark one Nighttime. I kept the two of them because they were too adorable to give them out to someone else. My mom wouldn't let me keep all the kitties, so the rest of them went to neighbors. The cat family ended up in different homes, but I still remember them together as Odette's very colorful little group. One of my most wholesome childhood memories is when my cat had kittens. Dove, Rain, and Nighttime sound like characters from a children's book. There's a reason that can explain that: a kid (me) picked most of their names. But Odette would obviously get the leading role. We had a princess, a bird, a kind of weather, and a time of day represented in our cats' names. Nature was clearly my main source of inspiration. Then my grandmother got to name the white kitten. Dove sounds so sweet for a little white cat. She wasn't as peaceful as her name suggests, though. In fact, she was the most feral of all the kittens.

A coffee a day keeps the bad thoughts away? When I was a child, I stole a little sip of coffee from my mother's mug, like every child ever, and thought it was a bit bitter. Strong, dark, silky, smooth, enchanting…hmmm, what was I saying? Oh yes, I thought I didn't like coffee. Little did I know that a couple of years later, coffee was going to turn into the perfect start to every chaotic day. Not only does it give me the little push I need, but when done right, it has such an entrancing and layered flavour. Coffee can really help you survive the start of the week. Everyone knows Mondays are a challenge. And Tuesdays and Wednesdays too. Honestly, Friday is the only day of the week I don't have a complicated relationship with, and even so, I will most definitely have a delicious cup of Friday coffee to celebrate it's Friday. That said, I think I've made it abundantly clear that I am a coffee fan. Now, I must clarify that I am a fan of cats myself. Some of them represent me better than a mirror ever will. So, in the spirit of raising everyone's spirits a little, here's a collection that mixes two of the best concepts ever: coffee and cats. Your cat might not drink coffee, but their love of cat food might be quite equivalent to your own desire to get a pumpkin spice work of art.
